MS.50 Identifying Problems Correctly (PowerPoint)

This LifeKnowledge lesson (MS.50, “Identifying Problems Correctly”) teaches middle school students about problem solving by examining the Y2K computer problem as a case study. Students identify the benefits of using problem solving and learn to differentiate between problems that are solved well and problems that are solved poorly through brainstorming, debate, writing, and an ABC review activity.
