Student Activity Sheet – Agriscience Fair Lesson 3 – Make an Introduction

A two-part student worksheet (with accompanying scoring rubric) that teaches how to write the introduction section of a scientific research paper. In Part 1, students use the University of California–Irvine library guide to summarize the four components of an “Introduction Checklist” and brainstorm what to include from their own study; in Part 2, students draft their own introduction addressing research importance, prior work with APA citations, purpose, objectives, and connection to agriculture.
