This is a student activity packet on reading and understanding nutrition labels and food product development. Through a series of activities, students locate and interpret the parts of a Nutrition Facts label, compare multiple food labels, learn the product development process and FDA health-claim/descriptive-term requirements, and design their own nutrition label, concluding with an exit ticket. Supporting reference materials include nutrition fact description cards, an FDA claims/descriptive terms chart, and a product development nutritional chart.
