Austin Stanton of Centralia, Missouri, is the 2018 American Star Farmer. Starting with 600 chickens as a freshman, he grew his egg operation to over 15,000 birds, selling through more than 50 weekly outlets and farmers markets, while diversifying into potatoes, pork, and custom spraying services. A descendant of a family that has farmed the same land for 170 years, he plans to graduate from the University of Missouri and return to grow the family farm.
