This is a food science presentation/lesson that introduces students to nutrition and food labeling concepts. It covers the food chain, sensory evaluation, essential nutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water), chemical and physical changes, and the components of an FDA Nutrition Facts label (serving size, %DV, calories, fats, cholesterol, sodium, sugars, fiber, and ingredients).
